Pilar Bautista was born in Gibraltar in 1939. Her family were evacuated to London during WWII and although only ten years old Pilar Bautista has a vivid recall of life in Kensington during the Blitz. She also speaks about Gibraltar directly after the war, the relationship between the Gibraltarians and the Military, the effect of the War on family life, the shortage of housing, and Gibraltarian culture and identity. The whole family moved to London in the 1960s where Pilar Bautista still lives.
