Michal Azopardi was born in Gibraltar in 1928. He has some memories of the Spanish Civil War. The family was evacuated to the UK during WWII and he speaks about living in London and Northern Ireland. When the family returned to Gibraltar after the war their house had been requisitioned by the military. Michal and his brother returned to London and lived there for 11 years. When he returned to Gibraltar he joined the police force; he started as a constable and finished his career as Chief of Police. He gives a detailed description of being ambushed on The Rock in 1957.
