A British officer serving with the SOE, Richard Brooks provides an interesting insight into SOE and its relations with OSS and SIS. He describes his posting to Gibraltar in the autumn of 1942 in preparation for landing arms in Algiers for the Allied landings during Op TORCH. He makes mention of 600 tons of special explosives stored in Gibraltar for use in SOE operations in Tangiers and Algiers. He describes the role of the OSS and describes the SOE Station in Gibraltar and its head, Brian Clarke. The account provides a good insight into SOE regional activities and the role of Gibraltar as a logistical base.
