During the war, Laurie Conlon was a seaman aboard HMS Wrestler in the Mediterranean. He recalls how in Gibraltar, he fired upon an Italian aircraft. He provides an account of life in Gibraltar and the social life on Main Street; the border and the Spanish workers. He talks of an encounter with a Vichy French destroyer off the Gibraltar Straits and the sinking of an Italian mini-sub along with the recovery of Confidential papers from the Italian sub.
