John Beever had a long career in the SOE in Madrid and Lisbon and later Gibraltar. In his account he describes the activities of SOE; relations with OSS and SIS and the role of the station in Gibraltar. He cites Hugh Quennell (who subsequently resigned over the Tangiers’ incident). He reveals operational requirements in Tangiers and provides a good account of the role of Section H. Given the fascinating insight provided by Beever into the role of SOE in the region, large sections of the interview are included in the Archive as it sets the role of Gibraltar into context.
